The Explorer is a digital marketplace with the best green and sustainable solutions from Norway. Its new, Chinese-language version will help to promote Norwegian technology in Asian markets.

“China is a particularly interesting market for many Norwegian companies,” says Helene Friis, Head of The Explorer.

“Since day one, we have been asked when The Explorer will be available in Chinese. Now, we can finally say that it is.”

The Explorer is an initiative from the Norwegian government. It is developed in close collaboration with leading Norwegian businesses, organisations, and government bodies.

In 2019, the international, English-language version of The Explorer was launched at the Greentech Festival in Berlin by H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. A year and a half later, the platform is available in a dedicated, Chinese-language version.

The Chinese content will be continually updated with green and sustainable solutions from Norwegian companies within ocean industries, clean energy, smart cities, transport, circular economy, and much more.

Cutting-edge technology

Innovation Norway is the Norwegian government body responsible for innovation and development of Norwegian enterprises and industry. It operates The Explorer on behalf of the Norwegian government.

“As a country, Norway takes an active role in helping the world to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” says Håkon Haugli, CEO of Innovation Norway.

“Norwegian companies are at the cutting edge of sustainable energy development. All solutions on The Explorer help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or other negative impact on the environment.”

The Explorer was officially launched in China at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) on 6 September, with the assistance of its partner Arctic Circle Energy (ACE).

ACE is a private company which promotes innovation and sustainability in Northern Europe and China. It works to accelerate the integration of technology, talent and capital, and to create new opportunities between the markets.
