The “Coastal Tour” is a series of events designed to help Norwegian companies in the ocean industries to carve out a new strategic position in order to increase value creation. Find out when the tour will be making a stop in your region!
This autumn The Explorer and Innovation Norway are embarking on a tour, visiting companies all along the Norwegian coastline. (See the preliminary calendar of events below.) The tour is presenting the new strategic positioning initiative for the ocean industries, in close cooperation with local ocean clusters.
The Coastal Tour was kicked off on 15 October at the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center in Ålesund. Over 50 local companies attended the event, which was co-hosted by the clusters GCE Blue Maritime and NCE Blue Legasea.
Participants were given an introduction to Innovation Norway’s nation-brand building initiative, “Brand Norway”, alongside the new brand centre and toolkit, brandnorway.no. They were also introduced to the new national strategic positioning initiative for the ocean industries as well as to The Explorer.
Creating a unified strategic position for Norway’s ocean-related companies is important for achieving a strong international standing and promoting growth. The Brand Norway initiative is building a position for Norway as a pioneer in sustainability. Similarly, the ocean initiative is building on and expanding Norway’s position as a pioneer in sustainability within the ocean industries. A number of activities are scheduled for the next year. Norway’s pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai will play an important role here.
The Coastal Tour events will give companies better insight into how they can increase their competitiveness through strategic positioning. Companies from all over Møre og Romsdal county came to attend the kick-off in Ålesund. They were extremely positive to the brand-building initiatives and could clearly see the value of marketing themselves under a shared brand.
The first event of 2020 will be held in Stavanger on 22 January. We are hoping to attract as large a crowd as the one in Ålesund!
