Supply chain software increases efficiency

MIXMOVE is an award-winning “software as a service” for supply chain optimisation and collaboration. It reduces both costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

At a glance

  • Software as a service (SaaS) for optimising cargo transport
  • Reduces costs by 35% and carbon emissions by 50%
  • Works with clients in 19 countries, handling over two million units per month

Road transport moves 72 per cent of all goods in Europe, making it a significant contributor to climate change. At the same time, cities are facing congestion and pollution challenges with the boom in e-commerce.

One in five trucks on the road, however, are empty. And the rest are only half-full on average. In order to improve utilisation and reduce emissions, more efficient supply chain management is required.

Cargo optimisation

MIXMOVE is a software service which optimises goods in transit. The software automatically analyses cargo orders for trucks, then picks apart and reconstructs the orders. The new set of orders means cargo is delivered to its next destination in a more efficient manner.

MIXMOVE is also capable of integrating multiple suppliers and logistic service providers into an open collaborative network.

The MIXMOVE solution provides complete visibility of an entire supply chain, in real time and at the level of individual parcels. That means logistics companies can know where cargo is at all times.

The MIXMOVE solution is entirely integrated to allow for consolidated transport of goods in cities, minimising the number of vehicles on busy city streets. The software supports all types of urban distribution, from large hubs in the outskirts to small operators moving cargo in inner cities using bicycles or carts.

The solution has proven to be extremely flexible, and it communicates agnostically with other systems through dedicated access points.

Concrete benefits

MIXMOVE provides increased operational efficiency by allowing companies to transport higher volumes while reducing costs by up to 35 per cent.

Optimising operations this way can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport by up to 50 per cent, which equals a saving of 124 megatons of carbon.

MIXMOVE moreover gives companies end-to-end visibility and control for their supply chain. The solution has nearly unlimited scalability and can easily be integrated into existing delivery systems.

Market potential

About 40 per cent of road transport capacity in the Europe today is unused. That translates to EUR 100 billion in unused resources, with the main problem being a lack of load unit optimisation. There is thus huge potential for optimising supply chains, both in Europe and across the globe.

MIXMOVE was founded in 2017 and works with clients in 19 different countries, handling more than two million loading units each month. The company runs 16 smart city hubs serving 20 cities. In 2016, the MIXMOVE solution was named Best Innovation in Europe by the European Commission, in the category of Information and Communication Technologies for Society.
