Orkel compactors enable high-density baling and superior conservation of more than 20 different bulk materials, facilitating environmental protection and sustainable resource preservation.
The transport and storage of bulk materials presents a significant challenge for land management. In landfills, organic waste releases methane and other greenhouse gases into the air as it decomposes. Toxins seep into the groundwater, polluting waterways. Unbound waste may be blown and scattered into cities and oceans, harming humans, land animals and marine life.
For farmers, preserving and storing bulk animal forage presents a different challenge. Cattle feed stored in bunker silos may experience nutrition losses of over 30 per cent due to oxygen degradation. This results in a corresponding need for additional cultivated land.
Orkel’s industrial and agricultural compactors allow more than 20 different bulk materials to be compressed into round bales secured with wrapping film.
In waste management, Orkel’s compactor creates clean, nearly leakage-free bales of landfill waste, limiting pollution and reclaiming valuable space.
In agriculture, Orkel’s compactor creates airtight bales of forage, limiting nutrition losses to just 1-2 per cent in up to 36 months and increasing the quantity and quality of milk and meat produced.
Orkel’s baling technology compacts bulk materials into closed, odourless, single-unit packages, reducing total volume by up to 70 per cent. This saves storage space and enables cost-efficient transport.
For forage, the bales ensure consistent material density and improved nutritional quality. The film ensures protection of the material. Bales allow easy market access, including transport across borders when forage is needed due to climate change impacts such as extreme heat or drought.
For landfill waste, the bales prevent nearly all leakage of liquids and reduce exposure of methane gas.
Orkel’s baling technology also enables cost-efficient transport of reclaimable materials from rivers and oceans to recycling stations, and non-recyclable materials to incinerators to produce heat or electricity.
Orkel’s round bales are stackable and easy to handle and transport by land and sea.
Orkel’s baling and compaction technology is suitable for a number of applications in agriculture, industry and waste management. The company has experienced an annual increase in sales of 20 to 30 per cent in both the agriculture segment and the waste segment, with rapid expansion in Asia in the latter.
Founded in 1949, Orkel is a market leader in developing new farm and industrial machinery and one of the world’s leading developers of round bale compaction technology. The company has customers in more than 60 countries.
