What is the purpose of The Explorer?

The overall objective of The Explorer is to increase Norwegian exports, promote the green transition, and help to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. More specifically, The Explorer seeks to pique the interest of potential buyers, investors or partners to take direct contact with you to learn more about your solution.

Does it cost anything to be published on The Explorer?
- No, being published on The Explorer is free of charge.
Why do I need to answer the questions?
- We need input to understand what the solution is so we can assess it.
Do I need to answer the questions in English?
- We prefer English but understand and can translate Norwegian.
  Remember that your English does not have to be perfect – we will write the solution for you. Keywords or bullet points are okay if you are really stuck.
  The working language for The Explorer is English because The Explorer is aimed at an international audience.
What does green mean?
- Please read this article explaining how The Explorer defines green.
How do you review a solution before approving it?
- The Explorer has a dedicated team of experts which assesses:
  whether the solution is green,
  whether the company is in a strong enough financial position, taking into account that startups often have tight finances,
  whether a solution that is not commercially available has come far enough along the development pathway to be included on The Explorer,
  whether value creation takes place in Norway, e.g. the technology has been developed in Norway or the IPR are located here.
What is a high-resolution picture or image?
- The Explorer’s standard size is 1360x765 pixels. We can resize the images if they have high enough resolution. All images must be in landscape format.
  A high-resolution image is normally a .jpeg or .png file that is at least close to, or more than, 1MB in size.
Why can’t my pictures have text or a logo on them?
- Our editorial standards are similar to those of newspapers or other online publishers. Images should be illustrative.
What format should my video have?
- Ideally it should be in mp4 format, 720p. If you do not have the video file, you can send us a YouTube or Vimeo link.
Why does the video have to be in English or subtitled in English?
- The Explorer targets an international audience and is an English-language website.
Does my company need to have an English website?
- The Explorer targets an international audience, so companies are STRONGLY recommended to create at least a simple English website.
  You can use your Explorer solution on your website, as long as you link back to The Explorer.
Can I edit my text when it is under review?
- No, but the editor will contact you if additional information is needed.
Can I edit my text once it is published?
- Yes, you may at any time edit the text, company and contact info, as well as change images, videos, logo, etc.
  Edits to the text and images will be reviewed and approved by the editor.
How many solutions are on The Explorer?

How many visitors does The Explorer have?
- The Explorer has around 100 000 visitors a month.
How will The Explorer promote my solution?
- The Explorer must abide by the EU state aid rules. This means that our marketing has some limitations for promoting individual companies in advertising.
  The Explorer instead uses content marketing on social media and in search engine advertising.
  Solutions on The Explorer are, moreover, used by Norwegian embassies, Innovation Norway offices and other representatives of Norway abroad to promote Norwegian businesses and sustainable technology from Norway.
