Norway has formal partnerships with United Nations Global Compact, DNV GL and Sustainia, and maintains close ties to The Global Opportunity Explorer.
The Explorer is structured around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to which Norway is taking active steps to achieve – both nationally and internationally.
The Explorer is more than simply a showcase of innovative green and sustainable solutions that have already been developed. It is also intended to inspire further Norwegian contributions to sustainability by demonstrating how such solutions can help to tackle pressing challenges around the world.
The Explorer strives to maintain the highest standards. Companies must satisfy a set of criteria to be able to present their solutions. Internal advisory boards of experts are available to answer questions regarding good business practice, sustainability and scalability.
A strategic advisory board helps to ensure that The Explorer continues to evolve in the right direction and responds to the needs of industry and the environment. There is also an external advisory board of experts that provides advice and can determine in cases of doubt whether a solution qualifies as a green solution and thus be presented in The Explorer.
At launch The Explorer is funded by allocations from the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
Norway is one of the first countries to launch a national digital platform of this kind.
